Believe it or not, I actually finished something! Here are the two pillows that will be winging their way to DS #1 in Illinois:
Only one small teensy snafu – I washed them AFTER they were all sewn together, including installation of invisible zippers – and they shrank. Enough so the pillow form is STUFFED into the quilted casing.
I love the way the shot cottons pucker up and give this lovely texture to the pillows – and since both sides of the pillow are pieced, it really is a wonderful, scrunchy pillow.
It’s a beautiful, cool sunny autumn-esque day. Perfect to show off the pillows outside!
Each one has my little label in the zipper seam. Here’s the front of the label:
and the back:
I ordered the tags from the Etsy shop, gutenTags. The one bit of info that is missing is the year – guess I’ll have to get that done.
Oh, and in other big news, a link to my humble blog was posted by Melody of Fibermania. I usually have a small devoted group of readers (hi, Mom!) so it’s been a BLAST to see all the new visitors who stopped by to see my fun with QAYG! I’m a little overwhelmed to see where they’re all from – thank you all for stopping by.
And finally, DH and I have firmed up our plans to travel to Colorado in October! I’ve never been to the Rockies, and I’m psyched. I’ve started researching quilting shops in the area . . . always an IMPORTANT part of planning our vacation!
Take care, get going on those finishes (Chris, I’m talking to you girl), and thanks again for stopping by!
All the best -
Chris

Chris, DS#1 will love those for sure. And, you will love the Rockies – having spent the last 40 years of my life in or near the mountains and lots in the Rockies – they are just plain grand and beautiful. You will find lots of fun little shops to tug at your heart, and wallet. I’m envious – I miss my mountains nearly every day.
Jil
Jil –
I have never been to the Rockies and I can hardly wait. We’ll be staying in Estes Park and I hope we’ll get nice weather – maybe even some autumn colors? It seems to me that people are either water people or mountain people – I love being near the ocean or the Great Lakes but really haven’t spent time in the mountains, except for the Smokies, which from what I can tell look very different than the Rockies. Dee is already getting his gear ready – he is nothing if not prepared. Take care – Chris
Those are really beautiful, stylish pillows. I’m sure they will be appreciated.
